Earn college credit by passing vendor Certification Exams
The American Council on Education’s College Credit Recommendation Service (CREDIT) is designed to connect workplace learning such as that offered by Ledet Training with colleges and universities by helping adults gain access to academic credit for courses and exams taken outside the traditional classroom.
The American Council on Education partners with Microsoft, Pearson, Certiport and other organizations that Ledet Training partners with to have some courses that have associated certifications exams recognized by ACE partner universities and higher education institutions for college credit. The ACE Student Resource Center has staff on call to answer questions about obtaining ACE credit recommendations for corporate training, creating and ordering your ACE transcript, and applying credit recommendations towards transfer credit at a college or university.
At some institutions, the appropriate term for receiving credit under this program is called Credit For Prior Learning. Students may need to research this option at their university.
- Credit For Prior Learning goes by different names at different universities: some examples of what to search for at your university include prior learning assessment, experiential learning, alternative credit, advanced standing.
- Credit For Prior Learning may have different meanings and options: credit by exam, evaluation of workplace training, individualized assessments, portfolio, just to name a few.
- At different universities, Credit For Prior Learning may be housed in different areas: transfer/advising departments, adult learner/prior learning assessment programs, and veterans’ programs are some examples.
- Ultimately the decision as to whether or not to accept ACE Credit recommendations is up to your university. Typically the decision is made by the department chair for the degree program you are pursuing.

To learn more about the number of credits possible for each of these exams (most are worth 2-3 credits) as well as the certifications that are eligible for credit, visit:
http://www2.acenet.edu/credit/?fuseaction=browse.getOrganizationDetail&FICE=1006810
How does it work?
If you are attending or planning to attend college, contact the admissions office to see if they will award credit for an exam (or certification) that you have taken or are planning to take. A list of univerisities that are partnered with ACE CREDIT - College and University Network can be found on the ACE site, and most recognize the exams and certifications for the same number of credits as suggested through the review process, but the decision and the number of credits remains at the discretion of the university.
To learn if your university is on the list, visit: http://www2.acenet.edu/CREDITCollegeNetwork/
Here are links to list of universities on this list which are located near our primary Ledet Training centers:
If your university recognize vendor certifications and exams for credit, then you can request a transcript from ACE that will be sent to your college.
